Bad Driving and Bird Flippers
So, there I was, at a four way stop waiting my turn to go, when a guy in a cargo van goes around the car in front of him, blowing through the intersection while laying on the horn and giving the one finger salute to the elderly man who appeared to be confused if it was his turn to go or not.
We have all seen it, or something similar as we drive around town. What stood out in this case was this stunt driver with ants in his pants (let us call him Jack A.) was driving someone’s company van, clearly lettered with the company name and logo. I know for a fact that some people may not call that company for service because of the poor attitude and crappy driving of their employee.
As a company owner, I would be very appreciative of a phone call if something like this happens with one of our trucks…and over the past 40+ years, yes, I have gotten a few. I have to impress on our drivers that it is not Jack A’s name on the truck, but the company Jack represents. I urge any business owner with drivers in the field to talk with them about being professional not only in their job, but behind the wheel as well.
I personally had incident many years ago while travelling on 95 heading into work. There was a new car with temporary plates doing 35MPH in the left lane…which always grates on me. In any event I honked and motioned to the driver to get into the right lane. This car followed me all the way into the parking lot, the nice older lady got out, approached me…and handed me a check for a project we had done for her. Without saying a word, she got in her car and motored away and unfortunately, we never heard from her again. Lesson learned.
Let’s all be patient, happy and understanding…and if one of our guys flips you the bird, I want to know about it!
